Unica was founded in 2007 as a part-time janitorial service, born from Nancy Galvan’s vision and determination. While working full-time as a Contracts Administrator at Bell Helicopter, Nancy identified a significant demand for cleaning services in the DFW area. Despite the challenging economic climate, she was driven to start her own business.

For the first two years, Nancy balanced her full-time job at Bell with her part-time janitorial venture, gradually securing enough work to transition to full-time entrepreneurship. Today, Unica thrives, serving a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors, including federal government agencies, local municipal organizations, and private enterprises.

The name “Unica” often piques curiosity from customers and partners. It stems from Nancy’s upbringing as the only daughter among three older brothers, with her mother lovingly calling her “La Unica” or “The Only Girl.” This name has become a symbol of her proud Mexican heritage and a reminder of her parents’ relentless pursuit of a better life for their children.

Nancy Galvan

Leading the Unica team is Owner and CEO, Nancy Galvan. A graduate of Fort Worth’s North Side High School and the University of Texas at Arlington, she holds a degree in Advertising and Marketing. She is deeply committed to her community, serving on the boards of the Dallas Regional Chamber and the Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, while previously serving with the Greater Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, DFW Hispanic 100, and North Side High School Legacy Foundation.

As CEO, Nancy sets Unica’s vision, mission, and overall strategic direction. She makes high-level decisions about policy and strategy, ensuring the company’s resources are allocated effectively. Nancy oversees Unica’s day-to-day operations, often delegating responsibilities while ensuring overall alignment with the company’s goals. She shapes and maintains the company’s culture, values, and ethical standards, ensuring they support strategic objectives. As the public face of Unica, Nancy represents the company to stakeholders, customers, the media, and the general public.

With over 17 years of experience in the custodial and facility operations industries, Nancy monitors and assesses the performance of the company and its senior management, ensuring targets are met and making adjustments as necessary. She identifies and manages potential risks, drives innovation, seeks new business opportunities, and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies. Nancy also engages with key stakeholders to ensure their needs and concerns are addressed and aligned with Unica’s goals.

Chief Operating Officer

Eric Marceleño

Eric Marceleño serves as Chief Operating Officer at Unica, overseeing federal and commercial contract field operations, while also driving new business development initiatives. A native of Dallas’ Oak Cliff neighborhood, Eric is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington. Since joining Unica in 2016, he has brought over 20 years of expertise in sales, negotiations, and project management from his tenure at Farmers Insurance Group, Citigroup, and Verizon. Beyond his leadership at Unica, Eric is deeply invested in education and community development, currently serving on the Board of Directors for EducateDallas to help expand educational opportunities for future generations of students in the Dallas Independent School District.

As COO, Eric oversees the day-to-day operations of Unica, ensuring that operations align with the company’s overall strategy and objectives. His role includes new business development, project management, technical services administration, and ensuring contract compliance. He also monitors company performance metrics, identifies areas for improvement, and implements changes to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction while ensuring high-quality service delivery is a primary focus. Additionally, Eric manages compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, handles crises, and ensures business continuity. As the alternate point of contact for government requirements, he has the authority to allocate resources to ensure the success of all contracts.
